style icon

I have been meaning to post about this style icon pretty much since I've started this blog, but I figured St. Patrick's Day would be a good time to feature my favorite redhead. :)

Marie Claire Style Director Taylor Tomasi-Hill is one of my very favorites. I love every pairing she comes up with. I'm always excited to see street style shots from shows & fashion week, just waiting to see that fiery red hair pop up along with bursts of green or electric blue & a mix of textures. I always drool over her accessories: perfectly sized tortoiseshell sunnies, those open-toe balenciaga sling-backs (if I ever find those for *way* less than retail they are MINE), square bangles?!!? I want to be on her level.

Probably not even with allll the luck of the Irish!

i got the fever

I have a terrible case of puppy (& kitty) fever. No pets allowed in our condo though, so I find myself longingly gazing at photographs of other people's pets. Huge creep. Anyway, I found this Boston photography studio, Fat Orange Cat...she does pet & wedding photography, & is also ridiculously talented with calligraphy. Suddenly all I want to do is "borrow" other people's animals so I can photograph them. Her photographs are so great...so creative.

here's her blog

natural disaster

Like the rest of the world, my thoughts & prayers go out to those affected by the earthquakes & tsunamis. I can't help but think that our planet is desperately trying to tell us something...or she's just tired of us taking everything for granted. I wish we all could be a little more proactive rather than reactive. Things have to change. I'm scared for what's going to happen next.

brick by brick

It's no secret that I daydream constantly about a light-filled loft with at least one worn red brick wall.  (if you haven't noticed my current blog background...)

WHOA.

perfectly subtle

via decor8, delight by design, desire to inspire, little blue deer, birch & lily

For me, the more subtle the better. A red brick that is washed out a bit, a little grayed...perfection. It should be an accent that turns into a focal point. The kitchen above is almost too much for me, but some brick is better than none, I think. The house next door to my parents' was built by some friends of ours - a gorgeous grey brick inside & out. The owners moved, & the old man who moved in PAINTED it. Painted it a hideous barfy yellow color with orangey brown accents, if it could get any worse. Please, for the love of GOD, do not paint your brick!

I will have a brick wall in my humble abode one day - & I will cherish it.
