style crush

she doesn't seem like the most down-to-earth little lady, but she does have a great sense of style.  i would raid her closet any day.  her style is very sophisticated, almost preppy...but she throws in funky necklaces, chunky booties & printed cardigans to add that extra edge.

emerson made in heaven

i can't really express my love for all things emerson made.  have you seen more perfect jeans???  i can definitely picture myself wearing that skirt & wellies & talking to my chickens...

my mom & i are going to make similar flowers for christmas presents this year.  probably couldn't sell them for $54, but they will probably look much more amateur!  ;)

dress the part: thanksgiving

happy thanksgiving y'all!  of course when i think of any event, one of my first thoughts is "what am i going to wear?!"  thanksgiving at our house will be small & casual this year as our extended family will be elsewhere.  & no boyfriend; dropped him off at the airport this morning.  :(  never fun.  but i am excited to cook with my mom, eat tons, get some running mileage in, & rework my old dresser so i can use it at the new place!  hopefully a productive long weekend spent with my parents & sibling.

i can feel it...

i know it isn't even thanksgiving yet, but a radio station here has started playing christmas music already.  that's all i listened to for two days while i was moving into my new apartment.  i can't help being ridiculously excited for the christmas season.  need new decorations for new place!

streetstyle outfit of the day

i adore this comfy chic look.  i would love to find a shirttail tunic like that.  do i even need to say anything about her boots?  she makes me want to practice my layering skills.

if you know where this is from, tell me!  i forget :(

productive

i got a ton of work done today.  i had a seemingly endless to-do list, & i got everything checked off that was high or medium priorities.  feels good.  got me thinking though, i will not have a desk once i move (saturday!!)  i think i'll just keep my eye out on craigslist & just live out of boxes until then unfortunately.  some wonderful little workstations:

andy irons

pro surfer andy irons died november 2nd.  his paddle out memorial was yesterday.  the video is heartbreakingly beautiful.  releasing the ashes is his brother and andy's wife lyndie, who is 7 months pregnant with their first child.  this is from surf wire:

In the embrace of majestic Hanalei, Andy's younger brother Bruce led close to 1,000 friends in a paddle out beyond the rising waves to encircle a double-hull canoe that carried Andy's wife Lyndie, his parents and close friends. On shore, thousands more watched on as Andy's ashes were released into the sea and flowers poured from a helicopter circling above.

At the same time, synchronized tributes were taking place around the world from Australia to Europe, and mainland USA in the greatest outpouring of aloha the surfing world has ever seen. It was a fitting tribute to a young man whose home-grown achievements, passion for life and family, and committed character proved that childhood dreams are worth chasing.

we are all made of stars

anyone who knows me well can tell you i am a total hippie.  i don't always look like it, but it's all there on the inside.  (these are the more appropriate hippie images i have.  turns out, hippies really like being naked!  & drugs.  lots of drugs.)

note:  don't try too hard to explain to your boyfriend's parents why you wish you'd lived in the 60s & 70s.  it just isn't a good idea.
